HIVES Spring 2022 Events

HIVES is excited to announce its upcoming lineup of events for Spring 2022. This year, HIVES seeks to reimagine a community space, a hive, for conversations on disability, race, and performance. We believe these events, which we strive to make radically accessible, will help us do just that!

March 9 @ 6:00 PM EST, Online The Future is Faith Featuring Thiahera Nurse, Isiah Rivera, and Rizzo Frenzy.

March 25 @ 3:00PM EST, Online Writing Workshop: Khadijah Queen’s Redrafting Fairy Tales

A 90-minute guided creative writing workshop with Khadijah Queen.

JJJJJerome Ellis Event

HIVES, in collaboration with the RCAH Center for Poetry, is excited to welcome JJJJJerome Ellis to Michigan State University for a performance and discussion at the intersections of disability, race, and performance.

JJJJJerome Ellis is a blk disabled animal, stutterer, and artist. He prays, reads, gardens, cycles, wanders, and plays. Through music, literature, performance, and video he researches relationships among blackness, disabled speech, divinity, nature, sound, and time.

In collaboration with the RCAH Center for Poetry  

An evening reading with JJJJJerome Ellis, Jonah Mixon-Webster and Layli Long Soldier, followed by a conversation and Q&A. Reception and book-signing to follow.

Summer   Buzz-Zine Volume 2 Released Online and in Print!

HIVES is dedicated to making our events as accessible as possible. These events will be open to the public and will have ASL and CART. Our programming is made possible by support from MSU’s English Department and with funding from the Creating Inclusive Excellence grant.
